Tequila Mockingbird & Quinzy

Born from Winnipeg’s legendary Blue Note Cafe, Tequila Mockingbird has spent four years building their reputation as a kick-ass live band. Tight performance and clever songwriting create infectious hooks that pull the audience to its feet. They have showcased at CMW’99 & 2000 and were audience favorites during Prairie Music Week ‘99. Their music borrows bits of everything… jazz, folk, funk, reggae, rock, you name it… and mingles it all into a sound that is distinctly Tequila Mockingbird.

In 1999, fan demand for a CD prompted the release of the Queen Soul EP, a compilation of demos and live material. The disc enjoys continuous sales and regular airplay on local college radio. Tequila Mockingbird is now back in the studio working on their debut full-length recording, to be released in September, 2000. The project is being produced by Olaf Pyttlik at daCapo Productions in Winnipeg. Pyttlik’s production is full-on, taking Tequila’s wild mix of styles and putting it into a slick package… a CD that demands to be heard by a national audience. Check out demos ‘Silent Observer’, and ‘Sunken Sky’ for a taste of what’s to come.

Tequila Mockingbird are presently acquiring nation recognition through extensive Canadian touring. They are a versatile band, boasting an impressive acoustic set and a diverse cover set in addition to their powerful original rock set. These guys are ready for anything.

Quinzy has been a presence on Winnipeg's indie pop scene since busting out with their much-loved 2005 LP 'pleasebabypleasebabybabybabyplease'. Cutting their teeth with weekly Thursday night gigs at Hooligan's (aka Eddie's Garage, aka The Standard, aka The Rose n' Bee, aka The Handsome Daughter), they went on to garner critical acclaim with several EPs, a huge Christmas spectacular 'Quinzmas', and a TV show based on their ill-advised trip to Singapore in 2009.

They've been on a fitful hiatus for several years, but are excited to be back at the West End Cultural Centre for one special night. Best of all, for the first time since 2006, they'll be sharing the stage with founding member Brian James to take some old tunes out for a spin.
